If you'd like to have a private meeting with the Adjudicator, this is where you should go! The Adjudicator is available at almost all hours of the day; just knock and he'll answer.
Comments are screened for privacy; no eavesdropping, that's rude.
[Oh, hey, Aligula; he seems extremely awake, given how late it is, and he seems to have recovered well enough from whatever Archie did to him this weekend. He seems bored, sure, but it's not a tired sort of boredom; just idle, kind of like he's lost in thought.
But here he is regardless, and it seems that he's got a couple more stuffed cats up there since he last saw her, because apparently Ferid is just not going to stop until he's noticed or something.
[As promised, Jean returns on Tuesday morning. She's dressed a little differently, in the more modest pink dress received from the vending machine and with her hair tied lower, draping over her shoulder. It's not full-on mourning clothes, but the more mature look suits someone with a chip on their shoulder.]
May I come in? I had planned to stop by and thank you for the pool yesterday, but... after what happened, I needed some space.
[He doesn't seem bothered by the idea of having someone in here, anyway, and he seems to have fully recovered from both the poisoning attempt last week and whatever Archie felt the need to do to him at the execution.
There are more cats on the shelves today - an orange one and a calico with its patches drawn on in marker - because Ferid apparently has a lot of time on his hands or something; otherwise, he's just kind of here with his playing cards again, though he doesn't appear to be playing an actual game with them - it looks more similar to what Mack does with them sometimes, with the not-tarot and all.]
And don't mention it, about the pool; I didn't mind.
[Hi there, Terumi. Come in if you want, he's not going to stop you.
He's got a veritable...fucking collection of stuffed cats hanging out on his shelves because thanks, Ferid, but otherwise the office hasn't changed much; Juri seems like he's fully recovered after all the poison and the...whatever Archie did during the execution, and he's got the decks of playing cards out again, though he doesn't seem to be playing a proper game - it actually looks closer to what Mack does with them sometimes, the whole not-tarot thing.]
Something on your mind, or just coming by to say hello?
[The office looks about the same as it did last time she was in here - there are a few more games and things to do in here (chess, a couple of decks of cards) and a trio of stuffed cats on one of the shelves nearby, but otherwise things haven't changed much.
He looks like he's doodling something when Fern comes in, though he'll actually do her the courtesy of looking up once she has.]
[Usually Juri is in the practice of just kind of yelling for whomever's out there to come in, given that this room is vaguely less soundproof than the dorms; tonight, though, it seems that either he's waiting for someone or he's just having difficulty sitting the hell down and staying that way, since he'll be coming to open the door in person for once.]
...Yeah?
[Walter, you never come to his door, why are you deciding to be the one who knocks now of all nights - ]
[Juri does not seem to mind the company, let's put it that way; he was incredibly manic at the trial, and while he seems to have settled a bit he's still looking decidedly more alive in the eyes than he usually does.
...He's also playing with Walter's shitty hat that he rescued from the pit. This is his hat now.]
[There's a letter for their host too, so of course Ferid's coming to deliver it. Very late at night. Pushing two, maybe, because he has a striped grey tabby cat toy to give as well that he touched up after the party.
Both will be set down, and notably this cat doesn't have a ribbon around its neck.]
The letter is from Brady. More or less everyone got one, besides Terumi, and I was rather surprised to see when that included you. You don't seem to be the most unpopular person here.
[... Walter White got that award, and he's dead. Rideaux has it too. Ferid's probably a contender.]
[Juri had been incredibly manic at the trial, but he'll actually seem to have calmed down quite a bit by the time Ferid comes in; he's still looking much more alive in the eyes than he usually does, and he's playing with Walter's shitty hat that he apparently rescued from the pit, but he'll actually set that aside in favor of looking over the cat and, eventually, picking up the letter.]
Brady...?
[He seems a bit skeptical about it, but he'll open and read it just the same.
...By the end of it he pretty obviously has no idea what to do with his face, good lord.]
[ Some time after Yuri's lured Juri out of the office, Katniss sneaks into the room. She's not sure where to start, but she'll go ahead and poke around the desk--on top, underneath, and if there are drawers, she'll try to get those open. ]
[Well, what she'll find on top of it is a partially-started game of European solitaire and not much else outside of standard office-desk fare - a lamp to keep the relatively low lighting in here from killing his eyes, a couple of pens and stray sheets of paper, a deck of cards from the game room sitting in its box.
The drawers come open pretty easily, though, it seems they don't lock; what are you looking for in there, exactly?]
[ GOOD (sunday) AFTERNOON, JURI DEAR. guess who brought her diary notebook with her today.
...it's her. she has managed to customize her ubiquitous notebook via painting little hearts on it. Before any business is getting discussed, though —]
Like always, you're totally invited! [ have a flyer. ] ...Sorry I didn't officially invite you to my pool party last week, but like, I totally got busy extracting a little revenge on Ferid~!
I mean, at least the thought's in the right general direction with regards to the cats - he's got four of the godforsaken little stuffed things on his shelves now, a little grey one joining the other three Ferid's made for him - but dear god, Aligula, this entire invitation.]
Don't worry about it; you know I'm not really one for parties.
[When Naoto arrives it's obvious she's extremely annoyed. She looks like she's about to punch something, but at least she's restraining herself. She isn't even bringing coffee.
Naoto doesn't even bother to sit down]
Be honest, Juri-san: are we all no more than entertainment to you?
[She's definitely cross with you, Juri. While she isn't shouting, she's raising her voice more than usual]
Juri's in the middle of writing something down when she comes in; he glances up to acknowledge her, though his attention returns to the...whatever it is she's doing as he answers her.]
I told you guys from the start that I'm not interested in forming any meaningful attachments with any of you.
[... Don't think you're getting out of the caterbration, Juri, unless this is the one day you're out. Ferid's peeking in with one hand behind his back sometime into the evening, humming a little too happily for anyone's tastes. At least it might be a short visit today; he got chewed out the last time he left a party hostless, after all.]
[Yuri wasn't exactly subtle in his efforts to get Juri away from the office, other people must have heard about it. At least Naoto did.
Silently hoping not many sneak into the office while Juri is away, so he doesn't notice people went snooping around, Naoto decides to make this all quick.
That's why she goes straight to the desk drawers to open and take a look what's inside. Juri likes to put stuff there, after all]
[Well, the office is set up as it usually is, and the drawers actually seem to be strangely organized given how unkempt his personal appearance usually is; there are some papers in there that seem to be largely drawings and a few notes, for one thing.]
[In the evening on Sunday, in this good year of our lord, Ferid will appear with an accordion in hand, dressed like a typical vampire. You know, black and red with a cape. Does this man fail in pulling anything off?]
I've come to serenade you once more, since you liked it so much before~! With the promised accordion as well.
[Things are back to normal in the weekly conversation session, it seems. Naoto has come by with the usual coffee, and looks like she has many things in her mind. She appraises Juri with curiosity]
I believe I haven't asked yet what was the fate of the survivors of past murdergames, Juri-san. Are you aware of what happened to them?
[...Well, it's good to see that she's not mad anymore, despite the...everything with Yang. Or at the very least she's less mad; Juri's not exactly great in the feelings department so it's not like he can tell.
At the same time, though, he leans forward in his chair at that, laying his arms against the desk to support himself. Hm.]
Sort of, yeah. I know a bunch of them died after the game - I think some of them decided to die, I don't really know for sure. But a lot of them are gone, either way.
I don't know what the living ones are up to now. I obviously don't exactly keep in touch with any of them, and what they do with themselves once they're out of here is none of my business.
[The office seems to be slightly less soundproof than the rooms, given that he can be heard at all; he doesn't sound bothered by her presence, though, so she can come in if she wants. The office is pretty nice, all done up in wood and leather; Juri's looking...slightly less presentable than the office is, given the usual jeans and unkempt hair. He's got a bunch of things on the desk - decks of cards, a chessboard from the game room, a board and marbles for European solitaire - and a veritable...small collection of stuffed cats on the shelves near his desk with little ribbons tied in bows around their necks. White with a red ribbon, orange with black, a little calico with green and a grey one without any ribbon at all; they're all just kind of congregated together up there.]
[... it has been long enough since that other thread that I do not know how to not Compromise the questions asked so since Juri went and killed the girl she likes again now IT'S TIME FOR ANOTHER ANGEL VISIT but this time with a purpose beyond just asking rules questions.
[The office looks...pretty similar to how it did last time she came in here; a few more stuffed cats on the shelves because Ferid has a problem, the brown and white one is gone entirely, Walter White's dumb hat is in here...but otherwise everything still seems to be more or less in order.
He seems decidedly less agitated than he did before, too, so at least there is that.]
[ At a decent time in the morning, there's a faint thunk on the Adjudicator's door. Not the knocking sort of thunk, a very "this is a body" sort of thunk.
...Aligula will skate in shortly after, because it has been too many weeks since she wore her roller slippers, and today is just that going to be that kind of day, apparently!! ]
Goooood morning, Adjudicator!
[ At... least she can stop herself on the chair and not tumble into anything like an idiot, she can sit down like a normal person. Let's do that. ]
[ Yuri's showing up again, probably way after the reunion party was crashed and everything. He'll even knock on the guy's door, and then just immediately play with the doorknob to see if the guy was in (someone stop him). ]
[...If he does that, the office is in a similar state to how it was the last time he came in here; a few more stuffed cats on the shelves because Ferid has a problem, also Walter White's dumb hat is in here, but otherwise it's pretty much the same.]
I mean, apparently Juri also does that, seeing as he's awake and all, but. Still.]
Sure, why not.
[This is gonna be so handwaved, it's going to be great.]
...You've been holding up all right?
[That's...delayed, in that weird way that people tend to have when they're just now sort of realizing that it's probably weird as shit to not ask that every once in a while.]
[Naoto is here for the weekly visit! And this time she not only has coffee, she also is bringing a chessboard. After leaving the cups and the board on the desk...]
Would you like to play a match with me, Juri-san? I thought you had a competitive streak.
[A handwaved match, if you wish? But yes, Naoto is trying to get Juri at ease]
[COMING IN HOT, JURI, sometime after the motive on Tuesday this time, and he's... he's got an armful of mice toys instead of cats. They all have some interesting markings, too; they're similar enough to the rest of the Competitors to note that they're probably a mockery of each.
All but him, anyway. None of them have bows.]
Have there really been games where no one has died before, my darling host? Because if so, they must have been terribly boring.
[Yes, he came to complain. Bringing it up to the possible manager. Forget the motive, man, that'll surely spark an interest in someone. He won't have to lift a finger himself if people start to get skittish at the end of the week.]
Truth be told, she's been unsettled about the Adjudicator since as far back as Walter's execution -- how he had been laughing as Fern bled, how he was practically patting the man on the back as he killed him. The execution of Yang and the eventual argument were just a continuation of those feelings. Not that he was merely not on their side, because of course he wasn't -- he'd given more than enough evidence to support that fact. It was something harder to put to words.
However, she considers it easier to get answers from people than to dig around for clues. And since it seems seances take about as much planning as a wedding, there are some advantages to questioning someone immediately available. Besides, she's not feeling as upset and petty as last week -- she can move past their last argument.
But can Juri? She knocks on Thursday morning. Whether or not he lets her in should be telling enough as it is.]
[The last argument was a shitshow, that much is an entirely valid assessment, but Juri does have a job to do here; whether he knows it's her knocking or not (or, perhaps more accurately, what he thinks about it) isn't obvious from his tone when he replies.]
Yeah, enter.
[As usual, his office seems to be as it's always been - a bunch of games, a few things from the machine, an...almost sarcastic amount of plush things from Ferid? There are something like five cats now. An unholy fucklot of things that look like mice shoved awkwardly on top of some of the books on one shelf. Presumably because Ferid has a tremendous amount of problems.
...And speaking of the fourth execution, Walter White's shitty hat is also on one of the shelves in here because of course it is.
That said, though, he doesn't seem bothered to see her; he looks up when she comes in - he's sketching something, admittedly, but he'll acknowledge her just the same, and it's with the customary mild shrug and casual tone when he speaks.]
