PRIVATE MEETINGS

If you'd like to have a private meeting with the Adjudicator, this is where you should go! The Adjudicator is available at almost all hours of the day; just knock and he'll answer.

Comments are screened for privacy; no eavesdropping, that's rude.

I'd believe most people would think you're a demon or a devil of some kind, Adjudicutie, but it isn't their job to judge people. Just to guide one way or another.

[No, it's more like he's someone more important, like a god of some kind. No one ever said they had to benevolent beings. A creature that judges...]

My, my, my. What ever shall I do about you, my darling host? You've gone and caught my interest. How troubling~.

Please, I'm in this game like any other, I wouldn't expect special treatment so freely~. Just your company. And a few things, here and there.

[... That is, generally, what special treatment is, but you know what.]

I'll put that into detail in a moment, it really isn't all that important, but I'd like to ask this first: If many people requested it of you, would you refrain from outright killing who it is we're passing judgement on? As you can imagine, there's some stern voices against the policy of an eye for an eye.

[Even without truly polling the place, he can get that. The reaction of some of them at the trial spoke volumes.]

The rules only mention that they need to take responsibility for their actions, not that they need to die for it. But it's more interesting like this for me, so I'm glad to hear you say so! It wouldn't do to give a boring option like mercy after all.

[Who'd even choose it? Mallick's self-defense was one thing, but they would've reacted the same if Sayaka had been the one who ended up down there, wouldn't they? There's no sense in letting killers off the hook.]

You're so old-fashioned, [but in an oddly fond way, I'm sorry,] but I've heard that a man who sticks to his guns is worthy of respect. It's too bad the man who said as much hates your guts more than he hates mine.

[Walter's a treasure tbh and Ferid loves it.]

What would cause you to add more rules? Morning barrages of eggs? An overuse of paper? Someone sliding down the hall at well past midnight, playing the accordion?

[He grins widely at that, leaning back in his seat.]

I'll keep it in mind~. Now, for those rather non-important requests... I feel bad that Robert hasn't had a proper drink, and for all the man's underestimations of women and children he's been a wonderful conversation partner. I'd feel it only right to reward him somehow. Do you think you could give him a little treat?

I'm afraid it's a little hard to make anything good and strong the way he's used to, but I have something now that I could use as a drink if you give me the right tools to make it so~! Not for free, of course, but surely there's something I could do that'll be amusing for us both.

[So observant though, Adjudicator. Maybe he should've messed with it more. Fleeting regrets aside, Ferid's content to watch him fuck around with it.]

[I heard he was a real blast.]

Papers with cute prints on them~. And a silly straw. You know, one of those that loop around and look impossible to clean. A funnel, too, though I can make due.

[...]

Incense that causes hallucinations. Nothing too heavy, just enough to dull the mind's reasoning a little and not question too much.

Awww~. I was going to trick everyone into drinking some blood, thinking it was red wine. I used to do it in France quite often.

[But fine, that's fine. He'll save it for a rainy day.]

The looks on their faces once I revealed it would've been so delightful~! How disgusted they'd be with themselves! Maybe one day later on, then, if you ever change your mind~.

[It was really fun eight hundred years ago!!]

You shouldn't take food and drink from others regardless, you know. There's bottles of poison wandering around and I'm not quite sure it'd be considered an attack against you if they tried that way.

[Confident, isn't he.]

Well then~. I suppose I'll give someone the idea and see how they take to it. What happens to us if you die?

[And a good observation. Either he dies in one fell swoop with the rest of them for some reason, or he has a feast.]

You can't blame me for being a little curious.
