PRIVATE MEETINGS

If you'd like to have a private meeting with the Adjudicator, this is where you should go! The Adjudicator is available at almost all hours of the day; just knock and he'll answer.

Comments are screened for privacy; no eavesdropping, that's rude.

[Naoto goes in and leaves the cup for Juri in front of him. Drink it, buddy, it's good!]

I don't mean to delve too deep in your past, but I figure it's worth it to try, at least.

Tell me, do you come from this world, or were you brought too?

[Naoto smiles wistfully for a moment. At least someone is at home, in a way...]

You're taking all this quite well...'professionally', if I may use that word. Do you have experience in watching over groups of people? Or...games like this one?

[This detective carefully makes her tone be neutral. Sounding accusing could make the other person shut down, after all. She needs to deal with Juri carefully, not jumping the gun about anything]

[Huh! That explains the detachment from everyone else. Juri really is more the administrative type. He's not totally exempt of blame in this whole mess, but his guilt may be minor, compared to other people's roles here]

I see!

[Naoto relaxes just a tiny bit]

Just two questions more, Juri-san. Tell me, had you ever seen this building this 'lodge' before?

Was it made specifically to restrict any type of skills and magic...with you being the only exception?

[That's the question Naoto wanted to ask the most. Any answer could help her get to a conclusion. She looks straight at Juri, waiting patiently for it.

Heck, even a 'I refuse to answer' would be meaningful enough]

[Huh. Progress! She smirks coyly]

I guess telling me what caused the loss of powers is something you can't answer, for one reason or another.

[It's more of an invitation than a question, as in 'prove me wrong', but at least she has narrowed down some theories about their situation]

Leaving that aside, do you mind lending me a few books? The place isn't awful in terms of entertainment but it'd be good to have something to read.

I'm not picky about reading material, so I think I'll be the judge of that.

[Or maybe she's desperate to obtain something to do during the nights that isn't wandering around with a target on her back, so to say.

Besides, depending on the book, maybe she can find out something about this world! Well, okay, she can't. That'd be almost impossible, hah]

Besides you wouldn't want anyone to develop a crippling case of cabin fever, would you? Reading is relaxing and would help to stop that from happening.

Thank you.

[Nod nod. Aligula was right, the Adjudicator is quite reasonable!]

I admit you're much more reasonable than anyone around would have expected you to be.

[It's a compliment???]

It's a relief, in a way.

[If you weren't directing a murdergame you would be so much more likable, Juri, you know that? Oh well. Looks like Naoto has obtained everything she wished for the moment, so she stands up and takes her empty cup]

I'll try to return next week too. See you soon, Juri-san. Thank you for your time.

[Once Naoto is outside she sighs. Juri seems professional enough not to spill the beans about his employers. It'll be pointless to ask him about that, it seems. Welp. Things really are never as easy as one would hope them to be]
