More like I was wondering why you want special treatment. I don't really play favorites.

[Again, though, it's not outright a no.]

The stuff in here's pretty boring, though, if you want reading material that badly. You may not need to sleep, but it'll knock you out through lack of stimulation alone.

[That earns him a short laugh, pulling out a book he doesn't care to read the title of and tucking it beneath his arm.]

If that was the case, then I would've been asleep for centuries now! Vampires desire and are interested in nothing but the blood they feed off of, though there's some who try things simply to stave off their lifelong boredom. A new hobby, reading, forcing themselves to look at a single petal off a flower to try and find beauty in something again...

[Ferid shrugs, making his way along the wall.]

You could say that if there was a kind who had a specialty in the art of boredom, it would be us. And at my age, I've done all I can to make things interesting once in a little while~! This competition we're in is certainly new, though, and I've always liked watching others lose hope.

[Huh. Well, it has his attention, anyway.]

Why bother staying alive at all, then?

Arrogance.

[The tone used is some odd mix of amusement and disdain.]

The thought of dying has never once crossed their minds.

[He tilts his head a little at that, actually, and it's obvious from his expression that he's mulling it over; he nods a bit to himself after a moment, going back to the doodling he was doing earlier.]

It's arrogance a lot of the time, isn't it? Same for humans, and...whatever else is out there.

Humans are more greedy than they are arrogant -- they may think, or want to think, they're above something, but in the end they'll do anything they can to get what they want. Even if it means abandoning their morals entirely.

[So. You know. This competition they're in is like, absolutely going to be started and ended by a human. Ferid can't wait, and the look on his face says so.]

[And again, he's considering that, though he doesn't pause in what he's doing.]

Depends on the human. But then, I've got more experience with those than I do vampires.

I've lived among both in spades, though I won't deny that everyone's experience is different. They seem to have gotten worse recently in my world.

[Well, nothing's really catching his eye here, so he'll fiiinally go to see what the hell Adjudicutie is drawing.]

What's this, Adjudicutie?

...I like having something to do with my hands. Helps me think.

[They're just idle sketches of things here and there; they definitely look like people, though it's no one Ferid's going to find familiar. A couple of animals, maybe, they look sorta like bears.]

[Are they cute people, though. How many stars in Hot or Not are we talking.

... He's also going to memorize what they look like anyway, just out of habit. The bears-like creatures are rather adorable.]

What busies your thoughts, darling host of mine? Anything you can share freely?

[...They're probably no one you're gonna be into, Ferid, too old. There's one that might not be but she's kind of weird in the face. Maybe four people total.]

Mostly just you guys. I do have all of you to pay attention to, after all.

[... A pity. Why is he drawing one stars when they already have a game full of them? Make them fours at least. The younger lady's maybe a two if you tilt your head at a certain angle.]

Oooh, you're making me blush~. [Not a pink cheek in sight.] Speaking of, though, isn't it hard to keep track of all of us? I don't suppose there's very many who would visit you as often as Aligula and I.

[Their morning walks are so nice. She couldn't come herself until the afternoon, and she swore she'd get their Adjudicutie before Ferid someday, but they're so nice.]

Not as often, but I've met up with a few of you.

It's not too hard, though. There are more of you than I'm used to, but it's overall not bad.

[... Overall "not bad" for now. Ferid really wants to test his hypothesis and Flemming doesn't want to so soon.]

[Or none of the above. God, Ferid, they don't have to mean anything, maybe they're just the Adjudicator's original characters do not steal.]

[That gets a bit of a sardonic noise out of him.]

[He laughs a little, leaning against the desk.]

A bit of both for some. No idea what they're doing for all of them.
