No, it wouldn't. At the same time, there wasn't much point in it.

Enjoyment. [ But he shrugs because even he knows not everyone is as awful as he is, and because he actually does know the merits of holding back for potential gains. He just doesn't like doing it.]

You looked like you enjoyed fighting Curtains, so~.

Yeah, he was fun - it'd been a while since I was able to do anything like that, and he hits pretty hard.

[With knives! And he didn't even take your scalpel privileges away after all that.]

There's not as much pleasure to be gotten from fighting someone like Fern, though - at least not for the reason she wanted to fight me.

Weren't they the same? They both wanted to kill you.

[He pauses for a moment before he answers; not like he's hesitating, just trying to figure out the best way to explain something like this.]

You're really into despair - there's a difference between fighting someone who's doing it because they still have hope, however pathetic it is, and someone who doesn't really have any and is just lashing out. They're both desperate, but the reason behind it makes the whole thing completely different, you know? Crushing the first one and forcing them to face the reality of the situation and give up on clinging to something so stupid is kind of nice. The second one's just kind of sad all around.

There's just something about breaking people either way. [ It's the best in his opinion, and his grin shows it.]

I told you before, didn't I? People want to see what's convenient and not the actual truth of it. The truth is scary, horrifying, and unpleasant oh no! [ There's a mocking tone in his voice, because he's heard this all too much.]

It's not just about pleasure though I won't say it's not fun. It's my function if you want to call it that.
